History often calls upon noble individuals in a special situation to do more. Time is now for us, the Bangladeshi Americans and Asian American, to answer this call.
President Kennedy once said – “Change is the law of the life. Those who look only to the present are certain to miss the future”
Dear Community Members,
On behalf of the organizers and the Greater Washington Bangladeshi Community, I’m honored to invite you to join hands in support of the first Generation Bangladeshi American and former Deputy Mayor Dr. Nina Ahmad who is running for US Congress from Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District.
Wealth and privilege shouldn’t be an entitlement to rule and the belief that the values of hardworking families are the values that should guide us. We didn’t become the most prosperous country in the world by rewarding greed and recklessness or by letting those with the most influence write their own rules. We got here by rewarding hard work and responsibility, by investing in people, and by growing our country from the bottom up.
On the shoulders of giants we stand, Sixty years ago, Thurgood Marshall, a young African American civil rights lawyer won the Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954) before the Supreme Court. It ended racial segregation in the schools. In 1965 President Johnson signed into law, EO 11246 (the “Equal Opportunity Law”) which helped African Americans, Hispanics and women rise to the upper ranks of management in federal government, at universities and private companies receiving government funding. Yet for nearly 50 years, this important law was not enforced for the benefit of Asian Americans!
WHERE IS THE JUSTICE when Asian American kids have to score on SATs, 120 points better than Whites and 450 points better than Blacks in order to get into top schools? WHAT IS THE USE of sending your kids to Ivy League schools, if inequality at the workplace gives them at most a 50% to climb to management ranks and becoming all that they are capable of being??
Dr. Ahmad will fight for your children’s rights and fight to enforce the EO11246 law. She will lay out the very foundation we desperately need and break the glass ceiling for our children’s to rise. To learn more about Nina for Congress visit: www.ninaforcongress.com.

This is the best way we can join hands to serve our community, and fulfill our moral obligation and civic duty to help build a better nation is to champion an end to discrimination so that ALL people can have an equal opportunity to attain the American Dream. At the end of this Civil Rights Rainbow, is a better, more abundant America for all.
Despite all the dysfunction in Washington, I still believe citizen voices make a difference. LET’S MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Enjoy the fulfillment that comes from knowing you are helping to make history and building a better America.
In Solidarity!
