Journalistic mission, standards, and ethical code
Mission & vision. Bengali Herald is dedicated to disseminating captivating content through ethical journalism to protect open government, community integrity, and press freedom globally. Our vision is to build a trusted, collaborative global news network that empowers communities through knowledge and information sharing.
Editorial review & fact-checking. Readers, reporters, and editors share responsibility for information integrity. Content undergoes multi-tiered editorial review, including copy editing, department head verification, and senior editorial oversight prior to digital or print release.
Diversity & global inclusion. Bengali Herald strives for fair, diverse representation in sourcing, interview subjects, editorial staff, and international reporting.
Fact-checking, corrections & retraction policy
Fact-checking. Content is rigorously vetted against primary sources, official public records, and verified interviews prior to publication.
Corrections protocol. When factual errors occur, Bengali Herald corrects them promptly and transparently. Substantive corrections to published news articles are marked with a clear editor’s note detailing the update, timestamp, and nature of the change.
Retractions. Retraction requests may be directed to info@bengaliherald.com. Articles are retracted only if major factual errors invalidate the report or if serious ethical breaches (such as fabrication or plagiarism) are discovered.
Publisher & ownership disclosure
Bengali Herald is published by Bengali Herald, Inc., a registered media entity headquartered in the United States. Main operational and editorial decisions are managed through primary administrative bureaus in the United States (Attn: Legal & Editorial Operations) and regional bureaus in Bangladesh.
Eligibility, registration, and account responsibility
Eligibility. You must be at least 13 years of age to access or use the Services. Certain fee-based features, subscriptions, or interactive activities may require users to be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction.
Account registration. Accessing specialized features, digital archives, or paid subscriptions requires creating a User Account with unique User Credentials. You represent that all account information provided is true, accurate, current, and complete.
Credential security. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities conducted under your account. You must immediately notify Bengali Herald of any unauthorized use or security breach.
Intellectual property, news syndication & third-party material
Proprietary rights. All news reports, articles, commentary, photos, graphics, audio/video clips, software, visual interfaces, and trademarks (including “Bengali Herald”) are the exclusive property of Bengali Herald, Inc. or its licensors, protected by U.S. and international intellectual property laws.
Limited personal licence. Users are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to access content for personal, non-commercial use. You may print or save individual articles for personal reference, but framing, syndication, commercial redistribution, or reproduction without written permission is strictly prohibited.
Associated Press and wire service notice. Materials provided by wire services (including the Associated Press) contained within the Services shall not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed in any medium. Wire services disclaim liability for any errors or delays in transmission and retain audit rights regarding unauthorized commercial exploitation.
User postings & community content licence
User responsibility. Users are solely responsible for comments, articles, forum messages, or media submitted to the Services (“User Postings”). User Postings do not reflect the views or opinions of Bengali Herald.
Licence grant. By submitting User Postings, you grant Bengali Herald an unrestricted, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, and sub-licensable licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, publicly display, and create derivative works from your content in any media format now known or hereafter developed.
Warranties. You represent that you own or possess all necessary permissions and rights to grant the licence above without violating third-party privacy, copyright, or publicity rights.
Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice
Bengali Herald respects the copyright rights of content creators. Pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 512, copyright owners or their agents may submit infringement notifications to our Designated Copyright Agent:

Notices must include: a physical or electronic signature of an authorized agent of the copyright owner; identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed; identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its location on the Services; contact details for the reporting party; a statement of good-faith belief that use of the material is unauthorized; and a statement made under penalty of perjury that the information provided is accurate and that the sender is authorized to act.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
“As-is” provision. THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT, ARTICLES, USER POSTINGS, AND SOFTWARE ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ACCURACY OF NEWS REPORTING.
Limitation of liability. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY APPLICABLE LAW, BENGALI HERALD, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EDITORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL ARISING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO OR INABILITY TO ACCESS THE SERVICES. TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100.00 OR THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO BENGALI HERALD IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS LESS.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Bengali Herald, Inc., its parent company, affiliates, directors, officers, journalists, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of: (i) your use of the Services; (ii) your User Postings; or (iii) your violation of this Agreement or any applicable global law.
Mandatory binding arbitration and class action waiver
Governing law. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Informal dispute resolution. Parties shall attempt to resolve disputes informally for at least thirty (30) days prior to initiating formal proceedings by contacting info@bengaliherald.com or writing to our Virginia legal address.
Binding individual arbitration. If unresolved, all claims arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the Services shall be settled through binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. Claims shall be heard by a single arbitrator in Fairfax County, Virginia, or a mutually agreed location.
Class action waiver. YOU AND BENGALI HERALD AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Miscellaneous
Severability & waiver. If any provision of this Agreement is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver.
Entire agreement. This document constitutes the entire agreement between you and Bengali Herald regarding the Services.
Modifications. We reserve the right to amend this Agreement at any time. Revised terms become effective upon posting. Continued use signifies acceptance.
